The bachelor party is an event where the groom can be with the men who have had the greatest impact on his life; a meaningful night spent celebrating his decision to end his days as a bachelor. The main planning areas the host (usually the best man) will need to cover are as follows:

Setting. Today’s bachelor party steers clear of anything that could put the groom in a compromising position; the focus is on fun and male bonding. A club party, sporting event or a boys get-away are all great settings for a bachelor party. Talk to the groom about his preferences and timeline, and discuss costs with the groomsmen before you book any solid plans.

Guest List. A large group is fine, but make sure the guest list includes only people that are actually friends of the groom — not the friends of friends of friends of the groom. Get the list directly from the man of honor, and stick to it.
Timing. Be sure that the event is not the night before the wedding. A party during the week of the wedding can be overly taxing and should be avoided as well. Get the groom’s input, and plan to celebrate within a month of the wedding date.
Transportation. Assign designated drivers or hire a transportation service. Taxis are easy to arrange, and limos never go out of style. You can also rent a private bus to ferry large parties around for the evening.

When organizing a bachelor party, keep in mind that the men to be assembled will be present to celebrate the life of the soon-to-be married. Don’t push the groom to do something he isn’t comfortable doing, and don’t try to embarrass him — at least not more than a dozen times.
